Sod Poodles Suffer 8-5 Loss to Cubs
The South Bend Cubs beat the Ames Sod Poodles, 8-5, at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The Cubs got a fine performance from pinch hitter Landerson Arroyo, who was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Blake Smith nailed down his 5th save. South Bend bumps their record to 14-21 with the win.

Arroyo had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Jeff Illas, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Cubs a 8-5 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Arroyo.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Arroyo.
