Dragons Sting Timber Rattlers, 3-1
|
The Dayton Dragons picked up a win at Fifth Third Field, knocking off the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 3-1. Starting pitcher John F. Welby was a big reason why. Kyle Egerton picked up the save for Dayton, his 3rd of the year. Dayton now sits at 26-7, while Wisconsin falls to 18-15.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when center fielder Salvador Blanca, who is tied for 2nd in the MID in doubles with 9, drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Dragons went on to win.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Dragons manager Jason Quinlan, "I like our chances."
