Led by 22-year-old Finley Allen, the Peoria Chiefs knocked off the West Michigan Whitecaps, 13-2. Allen went 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for the Chiefs. The winning pitcher was Briggs Malone. He's now 2-2. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Chiefs. The save was credited to Myles Davidovich, his 1st.

The Whitecaps had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Chiefs going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old center fielder Pablo Gutiérrez came to the plate. Gutiérrez hit a 2-run double on a 0-2 cutter from West Michigan hurler Yordan Cuellar. It was Gutiérrez's 9th double of the year.

"That game had disaster written all over it," said West Michigan skipper Dylan Roberts. "I could feel it."

Peoria is third in the Midwest League Western Division with a record of 19-12.
