The Quad Cities River Bandits bombarded the Ames Sod Poodles, 13-2, at Modern Woodmen Park. Leading the blitz was Doug Lippitt. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice for Quad Cities. Connor Portmann, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. Quad Cities is second in the Midwest League Western Division with a record of 18-14.

With Quad Cities leading 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Lippitt came up to bat against Ames pitcher Nando Mendez. Lippitt hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season put the River Bandits on top, 11-2.
