Slumping River Bandits Lose 9th Straight
|
In a tightly-contested game between the Cedar Rapids Haymakers and the Quad Cities River Bandits, pitcher Stanley Kaminer was outstanding. The Cedar Rapids left-hander propelled his team's 2-1 win. The losing streak for Quad Cities has now reached 9 games.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 1-1, 22-year old second baseman Kell Annakiya won it for Cedar Rapids. With the bases loaded, Annakiya hit a 2-2 changeup from Jeraldo Zeledon for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
"Runs were at a premium," said Cedar Rapids manager Antonio Ponce.
