Isaac DeCarlo, who leads the MID in quality starts with 4, was in top form in a tight contest between South Bend and Dayton. The Cubs right-hander helped his team beat the Dragons, 3-1. In 6 innings, DeCarlo surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Sherwin Hang earned the save, his 3rd, for the Cubs.

Joaquin Gamble, who is tied for 6th in the MID in stolen bases with 3, had a direct impact on the outcome. Gamble contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put South Bend up, 3-0.

"My gosh almighty, Isaac was tremendous," said South Bend manager Mickey Smith.

The Cubs have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 6th win in 24 games.
