The Dayton Dragons beat the South Bend Cubs, 3-2, in part because of designated hitter Kyle Emigh Jr.. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Jordan Garcia, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Nicolas Mendoza sewed up the save, his 5th.

Emigh Jr. had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-2 fastball from Lonnie Tomlin, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Dragons a 3-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Emigh Jr..

Emigh Jr. called the win a testament to his team's "grit."

The win brings the Dragons to 13-8, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
