Woolly Mammoths Thrill Fans with 5-4 Win
|
Led by Denver Tiedemann, the Westside Woolly Mammoths defeated the South Bend Cubs, 5-4. Tiedemann went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Woolly Mammoths. Westside reliever Chester Ratliff picked up the win to move to 1-0. Donaldo Cox suffered the loss. With the win, Westside elevates its record to 9-14.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the 14th. With Westside trailing 4-3, Diego Manzo hit a sinker from Donaldo Cox to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Woolly Mammoths had a walk-off win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Manzo said.
