The South Bend Cubs powered past the Westside Woolly Mammoths, 11-6, at Municipal Stadium. Júlio Rodríguez went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, to lead the charge. Westside now has a record of 11-12.

The Woolly Mammoths had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Cubs going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old third baseman Trent Wheeler came to the plate. Wheeler hit a grand slam home run on a first pitch fastball from Westside hurler Michael Cook. It was Wheeler's 6th home run of the year.

"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Wheeler. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
