Despite a great performance by Ames designated hitter Elijah Schulte, the Clinton LumberKings defeated the Sod Poodles by the score of 7-5 at Ashford University Field. Schulte went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ace Thomas notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Jay Horton earned the save, his 4th.

Clinton took a 6-5 lead on Otis Hemmer's 3rd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Hemmer hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Ames pitcher Emiliano Aguayo visibly frustrated.

"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Hemmer.

The loss drops Ames to 11-10.
