Woolly Mammoths Clip River Bandits, 6-5
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits and Westside Woolly Mammoths riveted fans at Municipal Stadium.
Quad Cities right fielder Doug Lippitt had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Lippitt was 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times, even as Westside beat the River Bandits, 6-5. Westside reliever Charles Leal picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Connor Freedman took the loss.
In the bottom of the sixth, Ignacio Ledesma delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Westside shortstop hit a run-scoring single, putting the Woolly Mammoths in front, 6-5.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Ledesma after the game.
The loss makes Quad Cities 11-10.
