Cedar Rapids Dismisses Fort Wayne, 5-1
|
The losses keep piling up for the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
The Cedar Rapids Haymakers beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-1, at Parkview Field. Starting pitcher Ismael Orosco was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 5.1 innings, Orosco surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run.
It could have been a different outcome for Cedar Rapids, had it not been for Joshua Atkins, the 24-year old second baseman . Atkins contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Cedar Rapids up, 5-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Atkins said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Haymakers have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 6th win in 21 games.
