Lugnuts 3B Houle drives in 4 runs in Win
|
Led by Jules Houle, the Lansing Lugnuts defeated the South Bend Cubs, 5-3. Houle, a native of Vaughan, Ontario, was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Lugnuts. Mark Soriano, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. Jaxon Renuka earned the save, his 1st, for the Lugnuts.
Houle had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Martin Ensor, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Lugnuts a 4-1 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Houle.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said South Bend manager Mickey Smith.
South Bend is 9-9 after the loss.
