Whitecaps Rebuff Loons, 6-4
|
Conditions were not ideal but West Michigan and Great Lakes were able to put their game in the books.
The West Michigan Whitecaps beat the Great Lakes Loons, 6-4, at Dow Diamond. West Michigan second baseman Sammy Tamura led the way. He was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. West Michigan reliever Adrian Bright picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Lee Ratliff was saddled with the loss.
West Michigan used the hitting of Van Sievers to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Whitecaps on top, 1-0. For the game, Sievers had 1 home run and 3 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Tamura said (again).
The loss has the Loons at 9-6.
