Dragons Bedevil Sod Poodles, 8-7
|
Fifth Third Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Dayton Dragons and Ames Sod Poodles.
Led by 22-year-old Enrico Valencia, the Dayton Dragons knocked off the Ames Sod Poodles, 8-7. Valencia was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Dragons. Getting the save was Silviano Díaz, his 4th.
Had Jordan Sablan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Sablan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Dragons.
"We played hard and won," said Valencia. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Early on, the Dragons, at 10-4, have put the pedal to the metal.
