The Quad Cities River Bandits claimed a close win over the Peoria Chiefs, due in large part to Joel Gomez. The Quad Cities left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 1-0 win. Gomez picked up the win for Quad Cities, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Ramón Villabos picked up the save, his 1st.

Rick Kociuba drew 1 walk for Quad Cities. The slick-fielding shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Tris Zglinicki. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
