West Michigan beat Ames in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Ames got a decent performance from pitcher J.R. McDowell, but it wasn't enough to beat the West Michigan Whitecaps. West Michigan won the Community Field contest, 6-0. McDowell threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. With the win, West Michigan boosts its record to 3-8.

The Whitecaps got a big at-bat from left fielder Pablo Walker. For the game, Walker went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave West Michigan a 2-0 lead.

"I liked our effort," said Whitecaps manager Dylan Roberts.
