Philadelphia Loss Takes Shine Off Kovar Performance
Soggy conditions did not keep Memphis and Philadelphia from playing their scheduled game.

The Memphis Blues overcame a pretty good performance by Philadelphia designated hitter Morris Kovar, beating the Phillies, 10-5, at Citizens Bank Park. Kovar hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Mitch Kendrick earned the save, his 1st, for the Blues.

Pascal Tovar helped out the Memphis cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.

"We came out aggressive," said Blues manager Willie Felix. "We came out swinging the bats."

Memphis is now 2-4.
