Big Day by Berchtold Ignites Expos Win
Good production from first baseman Hubert Berchtold helped the Montreal Expos topple the New York Mets, 7-4. Berchtold went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Expos. The winning pitcher was Oscar Sunseri. He's now 1-0. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits for the Expos. Damien Workman earned the save for Montreal, his 1st.

Berchtold contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Montreal get the win.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Berchtold. "You've got to get results."
