Extra-Inning Win by Blue Jays Over Red Sox
|
The Toronto Blue Jays had to overcome a fine effort from Boston pitcher Qu'wan Whaley to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Rogers Centre. Whaley went 8.1 innings and allowed no runs. Toronto reliever Homer Covarrubias picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jayden Spencer was saddled with the loss. With their winning streak at 4, the Blue Jays have raced to a strong start this season.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Toronto pinch hitter Kent Enyard, facing Jayden Spencer, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Blue Jays the 2-1 win.
Enyard said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
