Ignition Sneak By Indians, 3-2
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Tecumseh Field, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2052 Skyline Baseball League season. On the mound was Allan Spincic for the visiting Indianapolis Ignition and Dusty Sloan for the hometown Cleveland Indians. In a spirited contest, the Ignition pulled out the win, defeating the Indians by the score of 3-2. Especially impressive was Dusty Sloan. Jason Hartman closed the game out for Indianapolis, earning his 1st save.
Indianapolis used the timely hitting of Benjamin Nang to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ignition on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Bottom line," said Cleveland skipper Josh Mackin, "we didn't play well enough to win."
