Hogs Slap 2-0 Loss on Hummingbirds

The Gainesville Hogs knocked off the Sierra Vista Hummingbirds, 2-0, at Surprise Stadium. Dakota Pellam was a big reason Gainesville won. The designated hitter threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The winning pitcher was Pellam, now 1-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. Gainesville is now 9-7, Sierra Vista 8-8.
Gainesville used a well-timed hit by Kelvin McGrady to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hogs ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Runs were at a premium," said Gainesville manager Pierrick Gardella.
