Tempe Beats Buckeye in Extra Innings
|
The Tempe Impalas beat the Buckeye Quahogs, 11-5 -- though it took them 10 innings. Tempe right fielder Joel Sandy had a pretty good game. He went 4 for 6 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Max Palacios. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-4. Yes, it was a win for Tempe; but their 7-23 record is still nothing to boast about.
Tempe took advantage of an error in the top of the tenth inning. The game was tied, 5-5, when Payton Boquera hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Impalas in front, 6-5.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Impalas manager Aaron Lambert.
