Surprise used a superb performance from starting pitcher Trevor Matha to down the Flagstaff Blue Devils, 5-0. Matha yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 3-1. Surprise is now 16-12.

Brendan Berg helped out the Surprise cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the center fielder went 2 for 5 with a double.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Berg said after the game.
