Yonkers Scrapes Out 7-5 Win
|
Spirited fans greeted the Hartford Yard Goats for their clash with the Yonkers Dark Knights.
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Abel Newell, the Yonkers Dark Knights beat the Hartford Yard Goats, 7-5. Newell went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The save was credited to Ulisses Salazar, his 3rd.
Yonkers used a timely hit from Elijah Herlin to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dark Knights ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I felt good up there," said Herlin. "I saw the ball well."
Yonkers has a mark of 11-14 after the win.
