The Ahwatukee Roughnecks topped the Florence Swordfish, 5-3, in Arizona Rookie League action at Goodyear Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Ahwatukee pitcher and San Luis Obispo, California, native Ric Dean. The save went to Aiden Stegenga, number 6 for him. The loss makes Florence 11-9.

Andy Mondestin came through with a big-time hit for Ahwatukee. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I thought Ric threw the ball well across the board," said Ahwatukee manager Ray Badgerow.
