Threshers Beat Buccaneers, 3-2
|
The Clearwater Threshers topped the Boca Raton Buccaneers, 3-2, in Florida Rookie League action at Pirate City Complex. The game was highlighted by the performance of Clearwater pitcher Michael Dearborn. The winning pitcher was Dearborn, now 1-1. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. The win puts Clearwater at 6-4.
Clearwater took advantage of an error in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Rodman Bryant hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Clearwater in front, 3-2.
"If we keep winning the close games," Bryant said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
