Ravens Handed 5-1 Loss by Gateway
|
The Gateway Grizzlies earned a win at The Ballpark at Jackson, knocking off the New Haven Ravens, 5-1. On the bump for Gateway was right-hander Shawn Veccia. He had a starring role in the triumph. Veccia yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-1. The Grizzlies now have a record of 12-16 with the win over New Haven.
Gateway used a well-timed hit by Josiah Praetorius to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Grizzlies ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Shawn is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Gateway manager Elijah Holmes.
