Gilbert Geckos starter Stanford Gorton turned in a top-notch performance against the Florence Swordfish at Goodyear Ballpark. The result was a win for the Geckos, 5-1. The victory makes Gilbert 6-4.

Gilbert used the hitting of Joshua Brooks to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Geckos on top, 2-1. For the game, Brooks had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Gilbert manager Jason Blahut. "It's usually not just one thing."
