Sidewinders Deal Armadillos 8-4 Loss
|
In the 8-4 Surprise win over Phoenix, the impact of Caracalla Baez was substantial. Baez went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Surprise pitcher Arnie Hummel earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Norm Legendre suffered the loss. The win brings the Sidewinders to 7-3, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Surprise used the timely hitting of Lenny Turco to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 16th inning to put the Sidewinders on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Surprise manager Cooper Johnson.
