The Lincoln Bighorns used a great performance from 24-year old right-handed pitcher R.J. Tompkins to beat the Hartford Yard Goats, 3-1, at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Tompkins yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-2. Hartford now is 9-15.

Lincoln used a well-timed hit by Ian Davies to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Bighorns ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Bill Medina.
