Lancaster Absorbs 7-1 Loss to Halifax
|
The Halifax Frigates beat the Lancaster Barnstormers, 7-1, at MGM Park. Starting pitcher Robert Tipton was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Tipton got the win, improving to 3-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. He allowed no runs. Lancaster now has a record of 9-8.
The Frigates got a big at-bat from right fielder Rich Cooper. For the game, Cooper was 1-2 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Halifax a 2-0 lead.
Cooper told a Halifax Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
