Chattanooga Nerve Tested in 5-4 Win
|
The Chattanooga Scouts wiggled past the Shreveport Engineers, 5-4, in 12 innings at AT&T Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Chattanooga pitcher Tony Betancourt. Denny Murphy notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now sits at 1-1. Chattanooga has won 8 straight games.
Seamus Herschell delivered a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the 12th to win it for the Scouts. For the game, Herschell went 1-2 with a hit by pitch, while adding 2 RBI.
"That's what these guys do," said Scouts manager Fletcher Goolsby. "They battle, they fight."
