Alexandria Still On the Schneid After 4-3 Loss to Blue Wahoos
|
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos locked up a win at Rebels Ballpark, knocking off the Alexandria Aces, 4-3. On the mound for Pensacola was left-hander Alberto Baxter. He played a major role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Baxter, now 10-3. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The current losing streak for Alexandria has reached 6 games.
Had Weston Lay not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Lay hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Blue Wahoos.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Alexandria skipper Gil Mitchell.
