Tulsa Collects 4-2 Win
|
Tulsa pitcher Fred Nickell did his part in helping his team beat the Mississippi Braves, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Nickell, now 4-7, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Nolan Morgan finished the game for Tulsa and earned his 17th save.
Mississippi had runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the eighth. With one out, Vernon Melton stood at the plate, hoping to find a gap. Instead, he hit into a double play. The score remained 4-2, Tulsa. The Braves never could mount a comeback.
The 8th-place Drillers are now 32-46, the Braves 31-47.
