Smokies Drop Biscuits, 7-6
|
Smokies designated hitter Hector Estevez put his stamp on his team's 7-6 win over the Montgomery Biscuits. Estevez went 2 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Tennessee in the contest. Robert Oppenheim earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 5-1. Skip Schott Jr. closed the door for Tennessee, picking up his 14th save of the year.
Estevez had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 changeup from Jimmy Fujieda, he banged a 2-run double to left, giving the Smokies a 6-5 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Estevez.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Estevez.
Today's win puts Tennessee at 37-42, while Montgomery falls to 50-29.
