Arkansas Makes It 7 Straight with 5-4 Win
|
The Arkansas Travelers managed to get by the Chattanooga Scouts, 5-4, in 15 innings at Dickey-Stephens Park. Arkansas pitcher Rik Turner set himself apart with his performance. Arkansas reliever Aurelio García picked up the win, raising his record to 5-0. A.J. Fabricant was tagged with the loss. The Travelers win now puts them at 54-24.
Batting in the bottom of the 15th, 24-year old catcher Roman Targuin had a real shot to win the game. Chattanooga pitcher A.J. Fabricant was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Targuin hit a run-scoring single. The Travelers had a walk-off triumph.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Fletcher Goolsby.
