Hauser 3-for-4, Leads Braves to Win
|
The Mississippi Braves knocked off the Tennessee Smokies, 12-5, at Smokies Park. Lyndon Hauser was a big reason Mississippi won. The catcher was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. John Marquardt picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-4 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 1 in 5 innings, while yielding 1 run. With the win, the Braves improved to 31-42.
Mississippi right fielder Scotty Escalera contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 98th hit of the season and put the Braves ahead, 5-1.
"To get where we want to as a team, we all have to do things out of our comfort zone," Escalera told the Mississippi Citizen.
