Missions Drop Smokies, 3-1
|
The San Antonio Missions and Tennessee Smokies played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The San Antonio Missions got a magnificent performance from pitcher Ulisseo Montoya, who muffled the Tennessee offense en route to a tight 3-1 Missions win at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. Damen Page collected save number 14.
In the top of the ninth, Dilan Negron stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Smokies were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Damen Page made a terrific pitch and Negron popped out. Gone was the dream of a Tennessee comeback.
San Antonio, now 26-48, holds down 8th place in the Southern League Texas Division.
