The Shreveport Engineers and Midland RockHounds obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Midland RockHounds could not turn a fine performance from first baseman Quinn Whitaker into a win. Instead, the Shreveport Engineers prevailed, 6-5. Whitaker was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Shreveport reliever Cayson Cleaver picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Rafael Aviles absorbed the loss. Malcolm Beverly earned the save for Shreveport, his 1st of the year.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Castor Pascal came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Midland pitcher Rafael Aviles, he hit a 0-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Shreveport on top, 6-5.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Engineers manager Bryce Scott.

Shreveport is now 44-28.
