Alexandria Claims 4-3 Victory
|
The inspired effort of Corpus Christi right fielder Vinny Perry was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-3, to the Alexandria Aces. Perry hit 2 home runs. The win belonged to Konnor Jackson in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Erik James took the loss for Corpus Christi. Silviano Díaz, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 16th save.
The Aces got a big at-bat from catcher Jordan Allen. For the game, Allen was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Alexandria a 3-1 lead.
Allen told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
The 6th-place Aces lifted their record to 35-36.
