Dorr Goes Deep Twice in 5-4 Aces Win
|
Alexandria beat Mississippi at Blue Wahoos Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to first baseman De'Andre Dorr. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Josh Downie, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Chad Thomas Jr. nailed down the save.
With Alexandria trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Dorr hit a fastball from Hugo Porcari for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Aces ahead, 4-3.
"Credit where credit is due," said Dorr, "this was a team win."
The Aces, at 34-34, sit in 5th place in the Southern League Texas Division.
