Win Goes to Shuckers in Tight Contest
|
Irvin Bloomer, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2058 draft, was locked in. The right-hander led the Biloxi Shuckers to a 4-1 win against the Midland RockHounds at Biloxi Grounds. Angel Vazquez, now 3-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. With the win over Midland, the Shuckers improved to 26-36.
Sylvain Parent, who is tied for 9th in the SL with a .395 on-base percentage, aided the Biloxi cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder was 2-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Bloomer told the Biloxi Bulletin.
