RockHounds Double Up Engineers, 4-2
|
The Midland RockHounds and Shreveport Engineers played an exciting game.
The Shreveport Engineers were defeated, 4-2, by the Midland RockHounds at Engineers Ballpark, even though Brandon Slack pitched well for Shreveport. The win was credited to Brooks Romeo in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Brandon Slack took the loss. Pingo Rondan earned the save for Midland, his 8th of the year.
Marcal Mendoz, who is tied for 5th in the SL in bases on balls with 39, had a direct impact on the outcome. Mendoz contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Midland up, 4-2.
Midland manager Ruben Almendarez was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
Midland is now 31-32, while Shreveport is 37-26.
