Corpus Christi starter Darin Wiley put a stranglehold on the Shreveport offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Hooks to a 4-0 win. The winning pitcher was Wiley, now 3-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. The Hooks improved to 37-25.
Corpus Christi used the clutch hitting of Brandon Doherty to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hooks ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Doherty called the win "a collective effort."
