Engineers Take Down Aces, 3-0
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Shreveport Engineers and the Alexandria Aces, pitcher Zully Salazar was the difference between victory and defeat. The Shreveport right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-0 Engineers win. Salazar yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 7-2. Earning his 8th save of the year was Joshua Darvin.
The Engineers got a big at-bat from right fielder Holden Pearson. For the game, Pearson was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Shreveport a 2-0 lead.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Pearson.
With the win, Shreveport goes to 42-19, while the Aces fall to 26-35.
