Flying Squirrels Victors, 6-4, at Chattanooga
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels and Chattanooga Scouts.
St. Petersburg left fielder Jeremy Norris played a vital role in his team's 6-4 conquest of Chattanooga. He went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for St. Petersburg. Alex Shahinian got the win, improving to 4-2. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 8. Balthasar Casey finished to wrap up his 15th save.
St. Petersburg used a clutch at-bat from Colin Tolbert to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Tolbert said.
St. Petersburg now has a record of 33-27 with the win.
