Jumbo Shrimp Win Streak Reaches 17
|
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp pitcher Carson Faust was in fine form, leading his team past the Shreveport Engineers, 2-0. In 5.2 innings, Faust surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The save was credited to John Matthew, his 12th.
The Jumbo Shrimp got a lift from catcher Reuben Christopher, who in the top of the fifth stroked a 1-2 slider into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Jumbo Shrimp ahead, 2-0.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Jumbo Shrimp manager Craig Lauer, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
Jacksonville has run its win streak to 17 in a row.
