Midland Downs Alexandria, 6-1
|
Behind an impressive start by Vic Tate, Midland beat Alexandria, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Tate, now 5-3. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Midland bumps their record to 32-22 with the win.
Midland shortstop Matias Vaquero contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 46th hit of the season and put the RockHounds ahead, 3-0.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Midland skipper T.J. Saddler.
