Kleffner Homers Twice in 3-0 Win
The bats were silent much of the day at FNB Field. But 23-year old second baseman Sawyer Kleffner produced just enough offense to carry the Grizzlies past the Erie SeaWolves, 3-0. Kleffner went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Cullen Mentzel picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 3 in 8 innings. Yosef Maston saved it for Gateway.

Gateway grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Kleffner hit a solo home run off Dan Coy. His 2nd home run of the season put the Grizzlies out in front, 1-0.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Kleffner told the Gateway Bulletin. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."

The SeaWolves fall to 5-10 and continue their rocky start to the 2063 season.
