Smokies Snatch Late-Game, 4-3 Win
|
Smokies Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Tennessee Smokies and Alexandria Aces.
The Tennessee Smokies took Alexandria pitcher Kenny Comiskey's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Smokies Park. The final score had Tennessee getting past the Aces, 4-3. Comiskey went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 8. Tennessee reliever Lindsey Sawyer picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jerónimo Ruiz was tagged with the loss.
Had ValentÃn Sylva not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Sylva hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Smokies.
Sylva told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
The 8th-place Smokies now have a record of 17-26.
