The Shreveport Engineers earned a win at Engineers Ballpark, knocking off the Tennessee Smokies, 7-4. On the bump for Shreveport was right-hander Tim Briere. He had a starring role in the triumph. Roarke Ambrose closed the game out for Shreveport, earning his 6th save. Shreveport is now 28-6, 5½ games up in the Southern League Texas Division.
Sammy Tamura went 1-4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Shreveport. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Jackson Baione. It was his 4th hit of the season.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Tamura told the Shreveport Daily News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
